Into The Maelstrom

There was once a skipper
With a fearsome track record
Sailors would follow willingly
Even in pursuit of Asgard

As usual, for his mission
They pushed to be taken
Not wanting to left out
It was eat or be eaten

The ship finally set sail
Broke a bottle of champagne
Their return awaited eagerly
See what spoils they gain

The start of the voyage
Went quite smooth
The crew was happy
Words one uncouth

“Massive maelstrom ahead”
A cry from the crow’s nest
The skipper pushed forward
The crew did not protest against

Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die
If orders are disobeyed
Upon them punishments lie

And so they rode bravely
Right into the maelstrom
Faith in their leader
Weather what comes along

No one knows to date
Whether they are alive
Someday, it is hoped
To the old port, they will return
